Drew Malay, CFP®, CMFC®, is a Partner at Cassaday & Company, Inc. and has been with the firm since 2012. Drew works with families, individuals, and business owners to guide them through important life and financial decisions. He provides an empathic approach to planning by listening carefully to investors, engaging them in meaningful conversation, and educating them about their financial situations.

Drew practices a model of comprehensive integrated wealth management that provides a systematic approach to financial planning.  He addresses all of the relevant areas of personal finance including investment management, income and estate tax planning, insurance, wealth accumulation and preservation, charitable giving, and cash flow generation. He works collaboratively with his clients’ CPAs, estate planning attorneys, mortgage brokers, and other professionals to create a comprehensive financial plan.

Drew is a senior member of Cassaday & Company, Inc.’s Investment Policy Committee (IPC), which develops the firm’s overall investment selections and policies. He assists with collaboratively reviewing our clients’ holdings and asset allocations, market conditions, research studies, economic analyses, and other areas relevant to the investment process.

Drew is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®), a professional designation he attained through Georgetown University’s Executive Certificate in Financial Planning program, as well as a Chartered Mutual Fund Counselor (CMFC®), accomplished through the College for Financial Planning.

Drew is an Investment Advisor Representative with Cassaday & Company, Inc. and a Registered Representative with Royal Alliance Associates, Inc., one of the largest independent broker-dealer firms in the country. He holds the Series 7 and Series 66 securities registrations, as well as life and health insurance licenses.

Outside of Cassaday & Company, Inc., Drew serves on the Junior Board of Directors for the D.C. Bowl Committee, Inc. (DCBC), a nonprofit that operates an annual college football bowl game in the National Capital Region to benefit the USO. In addition, the DCBC operates the D.C. Touchdown Club and Patriot Point, a 290-acre waterfront retreat for recovering service members, their families, and caregivers on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.

In 2022 and 2019, Drew was recognized by Forbes as a Best-In-State Next-Gen Wealth Advisor. In 2022, he was recognized by Northern Virginia Magazine as a top financial professional in the Northern Virginia Area. Drew was also named as a 40 Under 40 Honoree in 2018 by the Leadership Center for Excellence*, which recognizes exceptional business and community leaders in the DC metropolitan area.

Drew is a native of the Washington, D.C. area and a graduate of the Georgetown Preparatory School in Maryland. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in finance from Elon University’s Love School of Business. Drew currently lives in Bethesda, MD with his wife, Greta, and their dog, Henley.

Forbes – Best-In-State Next-Gen Wealth Advisors – (2019, 2022) – Developed in 2019 by SHOOK Research, this list is based on an algorithm of qualitative criterion, mostly gained through telephone and in-person due diligence interviews, and quantitative data. Those advisors that are considered have a minimum of four years’ experience, and the algorithm weighs factors like revenue trends, assets under management, compliance records, industry experience and those that encompass the highest standards of best practices. Portfolio performance is not a criterion due to varying client objectives and lack of audited data. Neither Forbes nor SHOOK receive a fee in exchange for rankings. 

Northern Virginia Magazine – (2022) The Top Financial Professional list is compiled by the Northern Virginia magazine. The magazine sends out nomination forms to Financial Associations in Northern Virginia to nominate professional advisors in the various categories. The “Top Financial Professional” listing is given to those financial advisors that receive the most nominations. Financial professionals do not pay a fee to be included. 

Leadership Center for Excellence –40 under 40 – (2018) – Individuals under 40 years old who are making an impact in Northern Virginia and meet the honoree criteria below are nominated by someone who works with the individual either in a professional or volunteer capacity (you may not nominate yourself). Then nominees are emailed an invitation to complete an application. Nominations and applications are reviewed by an anonymous selection committee. The committee considers this honoree criteria: Live or work in Northern Virginia (Alexandria City, Arlington County, Fairfax County, Falls Church City, Loudoun County, or Prince William County), Under the age of 40, Complete nomination and application by the deadlines, individual demonstrates impact in Northern Virginia through (1) professional and personal achievements, (2) civic engagement, (3) personal story.
