Cassaday and Company, Inc. is honored to announce that it will be supporting Central Union Mission in 2020. For those unfamiliar with Central Union Mission, it is a nonprofit faith-based organization and the oldest private social service agency in D.C. The institution not only serves as a shelter to the homeless, but it offers a transformation and workforce development program for men, provides benefits for veterans, helps treat those with addictions, operates a food and clothing distribution center (providing food for over 4,000 people each month), hosts a camp for underprivileged children, and offers a ministry to families and senior citizens.  

On February 4th, 2020, our team met with President and CEO Joseph J. Mettimano to learn more about the organization’s mission and to tour the facility. Cassaday and Company was able to observe the large amount of faith and trust being placed in the hands of men who are either former program members or currently immersed in the program. For example, Central Union Mission operates a small business called “Mission Muffins” that is managed by members of the program out of the building’s commercial cooking facility. As part of Central Union Mission’s “Ready 2 Cook” program, their employees learn baking, retail, marketing, and business skills that help prepare them for the job market. The organization works with local businesses and agencies to find these men permanent employment or entrepreneurial opportunities.  

Mission Muffins is a “Ready 2 Bake” workforce development program and is just one of the “Ready 2” programs available to the men served by Central Union Mission. To learn more about the organization’s workforce development opportunities, click here. 

Central Union Mission is one of the organizations supported by Cassaday & Company, Inc.’s Charitable Fund. This fund was established in 2008 to enable employees to easily participate in a company-wide charitable effort. All donations made to this fund are matched at 200% by Steve Cassaday.  The Cassaday & Company team is inspired by the vast array of assistance that Central Union Mission provides for those in need and is excited to see the impact we can make as a team in 2020 with our time and resources donated.
